Total Solar Eclipse
Totality crosses Greenland, Iceland and northern Spain on 12 August 2026.
A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon fully covers the Sun, turning day briefly to darkness along a narrow path.
On August 2, 2027, the path of totality crosses southern Spain, Gibraltar, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Somalia. Greatest eclipse is at 10:07:50 UTC, and totality lasts up to about 6 minutes 23 seconds in Egypt, making it one of the longest of the century.
A partial eclipse will be visible across most of Europe, much of Africa and the Middle East. Never look at the Sun without certified eclipse glasses except during totality itself.
